It’s good news for Muskokans who’re looking for another weekend alternative that will help get them to the city.
If you can get to Barrie, you could soon be taking the train the rest of the way to Toronto on the weekend.
Ontario is adding more GO Train service to the Barrie Line to help manage congestion, provide more transit options and improve commutes for families in Barrie and the Simcoe Region.
Starting Dec. 31, Metrolinx will introduce new year-round weekend GO train service on the Barrie Line. This includes three trips from Allandale GO Station to Union Station in the morning and three back in the evening for customers travelling between Barrie and Toronto.
Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges in the province’s history.
“The Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area is expected to be home to nearly 10 million people by 2041. We must ensure that we are expanding transit with the future in mind. Today’s announcement is further proof of our government’s commitment to giving you more GO service – service that will help keep the region moving for generations to come.”
— Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation
