On January 16, 2017 at 7:24 pm, West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 124 in McKellar Township and commenced an investigation.
As a result, Thomas HENNIG, 22 years of age of McKellar Township, Ontario was charged with Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Cause Death, contrary to section 249(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
OPP are investigating a fatal collision that has closed a portion of Highway 124 in Parry Sound for the duration of the investigation.
On January 16th at 7:24 p.m., the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), McKellar Fire Department and Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 124 in McKellar Township.
OPP investigation has thus far revealed that a southbound motor vehicle crossed the centre line striking a northbound motor vehicle. The driver of the southbound motor vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to local hospital. The driver of the northbound vehicle was identified as David Robb, 56 years of age from Ahmic Harbour, Ontario.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger was transported to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators have been deployed to assist in this investigation.
Highway 124 is closed from Grey Owl Road to Swords Road. A detour is available via Balsam Road.
