On Saturday, September 2nd, members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 400 in Seguin Township.
At 4:02 a.m., police had occasion to observe a motor vehicle travelling at a speed greater than the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted.
During the traffic stop it was determined that the female driver of the motor vehicle was suspended from driving and violating a recognizance. Police placed her under arrest at which point she became resistant with police.
As a result of the investigation:
36 yr old Rosemary Westover, from Barrie was charged with:
- Assault With Intent To Resist Arrest, contrary to section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
- Fail To Comply With Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC,
- Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA),
- Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the HTA.
The accused was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
