The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will have an increased presence on our highways throughout the Canada Day weekend.
Officers will be enforcing the Big 4 which includes: impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding and falling to wear seatbelts.
The OPP historically sees an increase in the number of serious injuries and fatalities across the province. Vehicle drivers are asked to take responsibility for their personal safety and that of their family. Make sure that all persons in the vehicle wear their seat belts. All motorists should drive defensively. Leave adequate space between all vehicles. Respect the speed limit and never drive impaired.
West Parry Sound Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Mike Gordon states, “The Canada Day weekend traffic campaign focuses on increasing public awareness and compliance with traffic laws relating to the “Big Four” causal factors in motor vehicle collision fatalities, with the aim of saving lives.”
